Today was the day we chose to officially launch the This Is Me book, to quote from our blurb:
"Your Digital Identity is everything you create on the Web, but also what other people might say about you there. Photographs on social networking sites, logs of chatroom conversations, newspaper articles about your role in a play, or your sporting victory. Even if you don't post material to the Web yourself, there is a good chance somebody else does, and we believe it is worth knowing about some of the issues. This workbook is designed to help you raise your level of awareness and to think about some of the ways your DI might be affect."
For the launch we had invited members of the university who had contributed to the work or shown an interest, plus Ed and Andy from Eduserv who sponsored the project.
We started off showing a selection of photos from my Flickr account, an interesting view into my identity as they arre largely Second Life, Cooking and Crochet. Then we went into an identity exercise which involved sketching 3 different views of self, there was lots of discussion and moving around to compare views.
Then on to the Snakes and Ladders game, the game had quite a few twists with cards presenting different aspects of DI and needing participants to come up with great examples,
Then on to lunch, and chatting about the book.
The full photoset is at Flickr.
I thought it was a great event. Thanks to everyone for participating.
