Shirley Williams :: Blog :: Personas

August 28, 2009

Personas is part of Metropath(ologies) designed as a piece of art work to show how the internet sees you. I had tried to look at it a few times but you need to have a largish screen to see it properly. In the phiolosophy section the authors explain how the data mining techniques used can give great insights but alos highlight the difficulties of the same name. My name is not uncommon, in particular there is a politician who shares it. So when I ran a search on my name there were 30 primary items found and probably half referred to the politician, several to the Chairman, Air Jamaica Limited, then to the others of us.

I think it is a great visualisation tool of digital identity, it would be really interesting to try it as part of a workshop to discuss experiences with different people.

  1. Shirley-

I also thought this was wonderful, and while it seems quite engaging and full of promise, only about half of it was about me. The rest was about Jeffrey Keefer, the CFO of DuPont. Nice name (of course), though the two of us are different enough that the results of this nifty online service were flawed enough to be irrelevant.

    Too bad . . .

    Jeffrey
