Play.com delivered my copy of Supreme Commander this weekend, and I've spent the past couple of days playing it when I get home from work.

It initially taxed my system once I had a few hundred units going - I'm was sure this was a CPU limited problem, as turning my graphics down did bugger all to improve performance - thankfully, as once I drop below my native resolution of 1920*1200, things start looking a bit low-tech for my liking...

Graphics wise I'm really not that impressed with what you get for the recommended specs of the game, the game really doesn't look that good which makes me sad - because one of the reasons I thought I'd enjoy the game was that it would be great to just... watch everything happening and go "Wow".

In my opinion this seems to be "just another RTS", but with a larger battlefield and cool units that I still haven't managed to get my hands on because the AI is too content to just let me destroy it. I like the newtonian physics, and I like the scale. I also like that you can't just win by mass building a few hundred bombers and attempting to get the drop on the enemy commander - makes a postiive changes from Total Annihilation.

I fixed my CPU problems by modifying some Nvidia Control Panel setting and making sure it used both CPU cores. I can now run it with 1000 units and get no slowdown whatsoever. Huzzah! The game is a lot more fun when you can control what's going on.

Glorious :)

No real injuries to report, although we nearly had a broken nose curteousy of my aunt almost whacking my mum while playing tennis.

I've got Zelda: TP and WarioWare at the moment, and I'm looking into buying a PS2 sometime soon, especially with me wanting to play stuff like Bully and Okami.

Or should that be "current-gen" now? :p

The PS3 was released on Friday in the Americas, and the Wii on Sunday. Along with the Xbox 360 release last year, here's a question:

How many of these consoles are you planning on getting?

As I mentioned previously, a Wii is on the top of my list, and I'm debating over getting an Xbox 360. Playstation 3 I am passing over mainly due to the cost and the fact that I'm not really interested in any games series which is Playstation-exclusive.

So, over to you: Xbox 360, Wii, Playsation 3, combination of two or possibly all three?

My Gaming life started very early with a friends import SNES (note the american version of Mario Kart is really easy) and continued with my own Mega Drive, SNES, Game Boy, PS1 and then I switched to the PC. There are also a few XBox's and a XBox 360 in my house.

The PC is really where I came into my own. Playing Quake 3 semi-competively for a few years untill interest started to wane. I played the usual single player FPS's since then: Doom 3, Quake 4, FEAR. And dabbled a bit with Battlefield and UT2k4 etc.

Recently however I started playing Trackmania Nations a free racing game that I played in the UK team for. My devotion and times started to slip and I am currently on reserve for the team due to wanting more time to do other things in my life (At the top level the game requires at least 2 hours every day). And I am now playing Battlefield 2142 for fun [tag: tiberious].

I also did a small stint with Warsow, a free FPS game that is built for e-Sports. Based on the quake 2 engine, the team have created a very competant game with smooth controls better than most multiplayer games out today. I played some of the earlier beta's (the game is still in beta) and did some tricks which can be found here.

Also another pimp for ReadingLAN :)

I've got me a PS2, PS1, PSP, and am saving up for a PS3. I'm such a Sony biatch, I know...

But I also have a Sega Dreamcast, N64, a c.1976 Atari Super Pong console (which I'm not sure if it works), a Microvision and an Epoch Game Pocket Computer (which you need really big pockets for).

I do like PC games, but I tend to get easily addicted to them so have delibierately got myself a PC without a graphics card which pretty much wipes out anything worth playing at the moment. Except for Star Control.

Fav types of games have gotta be FPS's. Counter Strike is wicked, and Ghost Recon on Xbox 360 I also enjoy. The original Wolfenstein got me into those kinds of games. Most space-based games I like, especially the old classics like Elite, Star Control I've already mentioned, Wing Commander and Privateer were fun too. Oooh, and RTS games like Dune II and Sim City. I also loved the original Ultima series on the Apple II and I also like some sports games too. Hmmm, I'll shut up now.
